3 Things I Have Learnt In Starting Information Marketing. by Zama Zincume

In the early eighties Antony Ball and Stephen Asbury wrote a book titled: The Winning Ways.” It was a book on lessons from super-performing South African Companies. Basically they looked at what made these companies to be successful.

There were indeed many lessons ranging from effective marketing through segmentation and niche dominating, inspired leadership and creating a strong culture in the company.

What has this to do with what I have learnt in starting information marketing?

  • Starting information marketing is not difficult, if you follow time-tested methodology. Use all the skills and experiences you’ve been exposed to to brainstorm and create your product. Don’t narrow your territory, open your research eyes wide. It’s not only what you are passionate about that will sell but what the market wants. As Antony Ball and Stephen Asbury proposed…“Give the lady what she wants” not what you want or think what your customer wants. It’s your prospective customers that count. It is in solving their problems that you’ll have a sale…not what you think they need. Its what they want.
  • Do not reinvent the wheel. There are lots of products already out there. How do you segment your segment and dominate your niche? Find out what media your competition is presenting their information product? What is their price range? Can You go lower or to a higher price? Is it possible to create a twist to the product?

Your competition is your greatest asset. Why? They’ve already got the list that is buying a similar info product as yours. Create partnership instead of enemies.

  • Developing Joint Ventures and Affiliates will bring in success. Most of the internet information marketing is based on relationships. It isĀ  the building of your relationship with your customers and your competition. How can you find your competition, who will ultimately be your JVs? You do this by contacting the top ranked sites and who are the advertisers on Adwords. Who has a large email list in your niche? Be his or her friend. Don’t forget to go to Technorati.com for high ranked blog.

These are 3 lessons that will boost your profits in your information marketing business.

Next we’ll together look at how you niche your market.
