Todays article is written by my brother Stanley Dumanig from the Phippines. He is helping me in may ways as he is a geek in computer tech.

“First off, my fans might be probably wondering if I have abandon this site. Not at all! My wife had “two consecutive very difficult” pregnancies – one was born prematurely and is now 7 months old(pictures on my Facebook account). The other was a miscarriage (on the 2nd month) about a month ago. I barely had time to write since I have to take care both of my family and business. Anyway, all is well and I’m back again. I thank the Lord for His grace!

As a side note, I’m comfortable sharing my personal life in this site. I’m trying to share not just my business but my life as well. Life is not all business.

Anyway, here are some warnings for novice internet marketers:

1. Don’t get scammed!

There are many scam artists out there. How do you know who? Pretty simple! If people promise you to get rich overnight then its absolutely a scam. Internet business takes a lot of work and time initially. It is a simple business but not an easy business. Many will try to tell you if you will buy their program then you will have a six-figure income in less than a week! Baloney! Absurd! Run away from them!

2. Never promote any product or service that you haven’t tried.

Most novice internet marketers will start by joining a lot of affiliate programs since they don’t have their own products yet. This is fine and there are some who are successful doing this. However, doing it the wrong way will hurt you! If you have promoted a product/service and haven’t tested it and it turned out that its a bad one then you are in big trouble. I hope you haven’t promoted a scam artist. Yikes!

3. Maintain your integrity with your list.

In connection with #2, don’t try to make money from your list by promoting products/services which you can’t vouch for. It is your duty as an internet marketer to give “good and credible” information to your list. You might make a lot of money – short term! But, it will hurt you long term since people will start to question your business ethics as you recommend bad products/services. If you have promoted a bad product, ask for an apology! People commit mistakes and people forgive who commit mistakes. It is more absurd if you will try to ignore your mistake and get away with it. No! Ask for apology and I’m sure people will forgive you. Are there people who won’t? Of course! But, only a few! Again, apologize and don’t do it again.

(Note: Many people have asks me to promote their product in this site. That’s not how it works. They should have let me review it first. Just make sure the product works or else you’ll get a bad review from this site)

4. Don’t lower your prices to get more customers!

Think of value and not price. If your product will result to an additional revenue of $1,000 to your customers then you won’t be shy selling your product at $99! Even if its just a 7-page ebook! If your ebook will help them save $20,000 from their mortgages then you can charge them up to $1,999! Again, think of value and not price. My mentor’s rule of thumb is your product price will be 10% of what the customer will gain or save from buying your product.

5. Don’t give away your inventory! A big part of my inventory is my brain power – knowledge! People pay me to get valuable information. A big portion of my income came from coaching and consultation. One of the main reason from not being able to write for this site is I was busy working with coaching clients. They pay me to help them with their businesses. I give them priority because they are paying me than writing for this site which everybody reads for free.

Now, don’t get wrong. You have to give free information like what I’m doing in this site so people will know if you have the expertise in your field. However, if people need individualized help then let them pay you!

6. Don’t maintain one big site!

Don’t spend all your money in one big site. Rather, setup a number of smaller sites. I rather receive $100 for each 7 sites than $700 for just one site. In this way, when one site is not making enough money I still have money flowing in from other sites.

(Note: Try to target a number of niche markets. In business, sales are unstable throughout the year. One niche market might not have sales in a given month but other niche markets have skyrocket sales! Try to vary your markets that you have consistent cash flow the whole year)

7.Consistency is better than speed.

Most novice internet marketers are very quick to start but easily lose the fire. Internet marketing is sometimes overwhelming. Don’t try to setup 7 websites in a month. Though you can do that its better to setup one or two websites per month.

Cheers and God bless you!”

As you age you tend to forget quite often. Many people accept it as part of the package of aging. A recent study has shown that supplementing with antioxidants could help aging people maintain memory skills that often decline as you age.

The brain has shown vulnerability to reactive oxygen species, thus an adequate intake of antioxidants is likely to be neuroprotective.

In the study it was shown that participaants who received the antioxidants had significantly better episodic memory and semantic fluency scores, while verbal memory scores improved among only the antioxidant recipients who had low serum vitamin C at the beginning of the study.

Researchers concluded that these results suggest that a beneficial effect of low doses of antioxidants, which are easily reached through the diet, on cognitive functions may persist a long time after the end of the supplementation.

Supplement with antioxidants and win the war of memory loss.

You can have as many visitors as you like in your site..and don’t get any buyers. This might surprise you. but the key is in your web copy. Your sales letter should reach the heart of your targeted prospective customer. You must be able to reach” the way of thinking” of your prospective customer.

How on earth do you do that? Michael Masterson in one of his letters suggested that you’ve to write your copy as if you were writing to one person you knew as a friend.

To be effective in your copywriting you have to master these five keys to writing your web copy.

1. Research

Writing an effective web copy requires of you to do a thorough market research. What does your market want. What are the issues and problems they want to be solved. Don’t limit yourself in your research. You need to move out from online research to offline research. There you’ve to look for covers of magazines and see what topics are promoted and why. Are these touching the emotions and desires of your target market?

2. Notes from best sales letters

When it comes to web copy writing, don’t reinvent the wheel. Collect all sales letters that sold to your market. None of the copyrighting is really original. You take that concept and insight from different sales letters and for your own thread of argument. Look at the benefits that are in those sales letters and write them down.

3. Products/service Benefits

Having seen a lot of sales letters and the benefits mentioned therein, you’ll have to study your own product and write down the benefits of your product. List all the possible benefits that are in your product.

4. Do interviews

When you are doing interviews, ask them how they felt when they were seeing the product. It is the person who knows the prospect best that will make the most money.

If you’ve been following the discussion in this series you’ll be aware that it’s important to start with the prospect, not the product. In generating your market ideas you need to be very clear about what type of business you’re in.

When you’re in “business-to-business direct marketing”, it’s when selling a product to a business or professional audience. In “business-to-consumer direct marketing”, it’s when you sell goods, services, and information to the general public. So come up with as many products as possible that would be of great benefit to your market. You have to find a big need and fill it

However, there are four critical keys to effective marketing that you need to look at.. These are principles that you need to pay close attention to. You need to revisit them even when your business is running and you’re selling your products.

SPECIALIZATION

Trends have shown us that specialization is the key to success. Doctors that are successful are not just General Practitioners but those who are Surgeons and Cardiologists. It is those who specialize in a specific area that succeed.

You must focus and decide in exactly which area of your product market you are going to specialize in. Your focus can be in product/service, customer/market or geographical area.

If you live in South Africa you’ll know that there are companies who specialize in a product/service area like Cashbuild (hardware). They have also segmented their market.

Edgars specializes on apparel and South African Breweries are leaders in beer marketing to a specialized market.

DIFFERENTIATION

Your success in creating wealth in your business requires that you be both different from and better than your competitors in some clear distinct way. Be very clear about your area of excellence. Are you offering better products or services that are better than your competitors?

Your area of excellence is created by becoming very excellent in some area that is so important to your potential customers.

Your competitive advantage can also be distinguished by your unique selling proposition. What this means is that you are offering one benefit that is exclusive to you. It is unique. No one else has it.

You have seen how McDonalds is located. It’s easy for the customers to come in and out. This is unique to them. Be the best in what you are offering.

SEGMENTATION

A good example I have seen in South Africa is how Edgars has segmented the family clothing market. They have separate chains to cater for each broad segment like Jet.

You divide your prospective customers into separate groups, based on the product or service area you are specializing on. You clearly define and identify those customers who are ideal for what you sell and who are appreciate and are willing to pay for that product.

In market segmentation, you start with a description of your ideal or perfect customer. Describe the customer. You can even segment your segments. Finding niches within niches.

Your only hope in acquiring customers is to focus most of your time and attention on:

Determining exactly who your customers are?

Where they are?

What you have to do to get them to buy from you rather than from someone else.

CONCENTRATION

After applying the principles of specialization, differentiation and segmentation, you must concentrate your limited resources to the product you have chosen. You have to laser focus your time, energy, and money on those prospective customers that you have identified to be the most likely to buy from you.

Marketing always include everything you do from the day you start into business, including choosing your name, products and every other elements of the marketing mix, right up to the moment of selling.

In this 4-part series of scientifically choosing your market, you are going to be exposed to the nitty-gritty of niche marketing. This will remove the mystery of finding the right market for you.

To be a maximum achiever is to be a student of what motivates people and learning to discern the wants behind the behaviours of the masses. Zig Ziglar says: “You can have everything you want if you help enough other people get what they want.” It has been proven that everybody wants something; you only have to find out what they really want and give it to them.

There are few things that you’ve to take care of first. Who you are will determine your success in the product you have chosen. In other words your skills and abilities will enable you to know the product or service that you are passionate about.

There are other instances where you will sell a product because of need in your market whilst you are not passionate about. The important thing here is for you to discover the “why” of selling that product. This will give you the enthusiasm and persistence that is needed to succeed.

IDENTIFYING YOUR NICHE MARKET

You cannot be just “one among them”. You have to meet the needs of a certain group of people with their peculiar interest in their own subculture.

A word of warning: do not reinvent anything you for your product or service. There are few things you have to do in order for you to identify your niche market.

Acknowledge your skills, abilities and talent. The skills you have or those you have acquired in your work experience will play a big role in knowing which market to tap into. You might have abilities you have not used in your work situation, however, these have been there and nudging you to branch out and live your dream. Use them effectively in identifying which market and what product to pursue.

Look at the current trends. What is the economic situation? What media are you going to use for selling and marketing your product? What is currently selling and is in demand by the hungry market. The biggest mistake you can make is to develop a product or service without researching the trends and marketability of your product.

Do an intensive research on the market you want to be in. Research your product or service thoroughly. Is there a market in place? Are there people buying the products you are interested in?

If you are going to use the internet as a medium for selling your product, you have to check the best products in Amazon, Clickbank marketplace and other internet marketers. Remember, for you to succeed you need a market that is hungry and responsive to your product.

HOW TO SELECT THE RIGHT PRODUCT OR SERVICE?

Your sales, success and profitability depend on your ability to select the right product suitable for your customers and your business.

Scientific evidence has shown us that companies become successful if they choose a product that fits into these three aspects

A product that is sold by the company where there is passion and greater belief in the product itself.

It must have the potential to be in the top 10 percent in the market.

The product that has been chosen is to be profitable.

Businesses fail because they sell products they are not passionate about, the product itself is not good and the product is not profitable.

Remember, always think like a customer. Can the customer be interested in the product? What about buying it? Is it possible that the customer can buy the same product from a competitor?

You have to do thorough research and development of your new product or services. Failing to do so will be a stumbling block to your profit.

HOW TO FIND NEW PRODUCT IDEAS?

The Internet has created an avalanche of information explosion. The intense competition prevailing in the current economy is opening the floodgates of ideas to meet the demands of society.

Great fortunes have been created with new inventions and new technology that has been developed. The fax as we know it is becoming obsolete. Sending money by post is vast becoming a thing of the past. New ideas and new products are coming in the market.

Familiarize yourself with current developments. You will attain this knowledge and information through reading. Going through MyGoals.com can give you a variety of ideas as far as product ideas are concerned.

Read business publications. What news stories are you finding in your business magazines and newspapers? Read the Financial Mail, Business Week, Wall Street Journal any other financial publication in your area.

Travel with your eyes wide open for new opportunities. You have noticed that many people have become wealthy through selling the products they saw when travelling overseas. Some have taken the local product, patented it and placed it in a reliable distribution network.

Are you aware of the current consumer trends? What are their tastes?

GIVE THE LADY WHAT SHE WANTS

Vic Hammond, Former Chief Executive of Edgars once said: “Give the lady what she wants.” Any top-performing company regard marketing and sales as their central pursuit. They are not just driven by their managers and shareholders but what the market itself want.

Your success will depend mostly on how you segment your market for your particular product. Let us clarify the difference between marketing and selling.

Marketing is the process of lead generation. It encompasses everything you do up to the point of sale. When you have the product idea in place, you have to think through of every element of the marketing mix before you take action. The elements referred to are product, price, place, promotion, packaging, positioning and people.

What skills do you have? The field of your operation might be full of opportunities. It’s possible that you may be staring at a million dollar idea waiting to be tapped. What knowledge do you have? Your experience, interest, or your current job.

Are there any problems you’ve solved? You can market a product that explains the solution to the problem you or someone else has experienced and was able to find a lasting solution.

Is choosing a market a daunting task? If you’ve ever been online for sometime you’ll agree with me on this. As a beginner it gives you creeps to niche your market in an avalanche of competition.

On the other hand you are bombarded with LIARS who tell you that you can be a millionaire in 3 months. They’re not telling you that PPC cost will cost you your hard earned rand or dollar and leave you wondering what happened to the promises of the gurus.

Information marketing business is like any other business. You have to plan! What model will you be using for your business? How much will it cost you to run your business…in acquiring prospective customers and fulfilling orders? What about outsourcing those things that you don’t have any fun in doing them?

You must indeed swim with the sharks…why? There is no market that you’ll find with no competition. If you want to reinvent the wheel, you’re heading for disaster.Anthony Ball and Stephen Asbury in their book: The Winning Way proposes that you have to get your slice in that crowded market.

“Segment your segments. Find niches within niches. The process can be an infinitesimal one, progressively cutting the cucumber into ever thinner slices until you find the piece of the market to which you can most effectively apply your skills and resources, which you can turn into an almost personalised opportunity.”

Who you are and what you are will play a big role in choosing a market you’ll be comfortable with. There are those people who want to develop eternal relationships using all the scientific tools on hand. Whilst on the other end there are those who enjoy “the numbers game”; those who not only like testing and comparing but also calculating volumes coming in and clicks to their site.

Know yourself before finding any niche market. If you know who you are, you must find your prospective customer. Of vital importance in choosing your market is giving the customer what she wants if you’ve taken the trouble to find out what she wants. You can also look at what particular bundle of rational and emotional benefits is demanded in the niche you want to serve.

If you look thoroughly at what customers want from other competitors, you’ll develop a picture of your target consumer, her lifestyle, her needs, her aspirations.

How are you going to find all this information?

Your ultimate purpose is to establish a destination in the web. You’ll have to define your niche so that you can dominate it, even if you are not a large player in the context of the particular market you’ve chosen. You must firmly establish the name and personality of your product or service in the mind of the target consumer. The key here is that you’re developing the confidence to your customers so that you can sell to them over and over with even higher ticket products.

To reach your target consumer/customer you need a methodological way of doing it.

How are you going to generate marketing ideas?

What is your set of criteria for evaluating your ideas?

What model of business fits your personality?

You must know what business lifestyle you want. In Internet marketing like in any other business you’ve to work hard. The advantage with online marketing is that you work hard in the initial stages of your business and then roll out your system to work on autopilot.

Don’t ever fool yourself in thinking that money will fall from heaven. It will never happen.

In our next part we’ll be looking at how you can generate ideas for your niche market.

The pursuit of your goals should never be at the expense of your deeply held values. Remember, every complex system, whether it’s a computer or a human body, has to be congruent. Each part should support or be in agreement with the other part.

Its parts have to work together; every action has to support every other action if it’s to work at a peak level. If you are getting one thing, but vaguely wanting something else, you will not be totally happy or fulfilled.

Likewise in your information marketing business you must be congruent and maintain your integrity. Don’t just pursue money. Your values are critical.

Values are like the executive level of judgement in the human brain. They are your own private, personal, and individual beliefs about what is important to you. Your beliefs are a force that controls all your decisions. It influences how you think and feel every moment you’re alive. It determines what you will do and what you will not do. It determines how you feel about anything that occurs in your life.

Your values also change when you change goals. Goals should reinforce your values. Michael Masterson puts it nicely:

As a worker, I want to be considered creative and helpful, sacrificial and going an extra mile.

As a parent, I want to be thought of as supportive and kind.

As an individual, I want to be thought of as smart and interesting; sharing, business-minded and health-conscious.

PROCESS OF GOAL SETTING

The accomplishment of the greatest achievers on planet earth began with the same first step – the setting of a goal.

Goal setting, therefore, serves as a vehicle in which to travel with confidence from your starting point to the destination of your dreams.

Your goal setting entails that you:

Establish your purpose in life

And your most important values in life will determine your purpose

The reason of setting goals is to give our lives focus and to move us in the direction we want to go. Remember, success depends on doing best, not just once in a while but consistently.

What you did in the past does not determine what you’ll do in the future. Robert Schuller of the Crystal Cathedral posed some relevant questions for creating our destinies:

What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

If you were absolutely certain of success, what activities would you pursue, what actions would you take?

You need to decide what you really want, because knowing what you want determines what you will receive. Before something happens or become manifested in the world, it must first happen in your mind. I think it was Napoleon Hill who came with this saying: When conception occurs, birth of a desire is imminent.

RULES OF GOAL SETTING

Goal setting is the manifestation of:

Creative imagination

Independent will

All your goal setting must be immediately followed by both the development of a plan and massive action.

Write down what you want and make your goals to be very clear. Writing down your goals will serve three purposes:

a) It helps crystallize (make definite) your dreams.

b) It reminds you what your goals are, so that when you are distracted, it helps you get back on track and in line.

c) It prompts and moves you to achieve them systematically and not in a haphazard manner, thus confusing your mind.

Written goals serve as a wonderful reminder. It is not easy to forget something you have written down. Psychologists confirm this fact. Writing your goals down motivates you to pursue them. It also enables you to focus, concentrate and direct your energy toward achieving them.

Asking why you want to achieve your goals. Why to do something is much more powerful than how. If you get a big why you want to do something, you can always figure out the how.

Deciding when you want to achieve your goals. Goals without deadlines are generally less effective. If you have a big goal, break it down into more easily managed, short time scales. Deadlines create a sense of urgency that helps you achieve your goals.

3. Plan how you are going to achieve your goals. This is your blueprint! Think through your plan. Be clear and sure of :

What you want?

Why you want it?

When you want to achieve it?

How are you going to achieve it?

Every success is the result of a plan! I once heard Brian Tracy say, “success by the inch is a cinch, and by the hard is hard.”

You have to define your goals properly:

Goals must be clear and specific.

Good goals must be realistic and achievable. Some goal setters are idealists living in a fantasy world. They set goals that are at best unrealistic and at worst illusory. Goals will cost you time, energy and resources, but you have to achieve your goal.

Good goals must be growth-directed.

Inspiring, not limiting, but exciting.

Positive goals will inspire your imagination, spark your passion for greatness; and increase your courage for achievement.

Goals that are growth-directed have the ability to add rewarding experiences to your life.

4. Good goals must be personalized. They must be your personal goals and be directed by yourself. They must also include plans for adjustments in your lifestyle where necessary. The most important thing is to remember that, sometimes, you need to make adjustments against your preference in order to achieve your goals.

PRINCIPLE OF PRIORITIZING

The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. It is important to prioritize because:

a) We may sometimes have conflicting goals.

b) There are times when you may find yourself lacking the necessary time, money or energy to achieve a particular goal immediately. Sometimes prioritizing requires that you postpone a good goal.

c) Prioritize your time.

Arrange your goals in life in the order of urgency, importance, or preference. Goal setting is always a progressive process. Habitual goal setting enables you to :

Learn new things in life.

Know more about yourself.

Whatever goals you set to achieve, there will be opportunities to learn new things, acquire new skills, and increase your wisdom along the journey. One of the greatest things in life is to know yourself:

Who you are

The kind of person you want to be.

Discover your strengths, interests, and what you like.

Thus, in setting goals you grow in maturity and wisdom.

Goals have the ability to keep your entire being focused on the future. They command an insistent attitude to remain hopeful for a brighter life ahead. Goals keep you ahead in life! When you set goals, you begin to be in control of your life.

There is just one thing you need to know, that the only limit to what you can have in your life is the size of your imagination and level of your commitment to making it real.

“Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the (action of His) power that is at work within us, is able to (carry out His purpose and) do superabundantly, far over and above all that we (dare) ask or think (infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams)-

Ephesians 3:20 (Ampl.)

Dennis Waitley, the master of goal setting contends that the reason most people don’t achieve their goals in life is because they didn’t have any in the first place.

PRACTICING LONG-TIME PERSPECTIVE

In determining your ultimate destination through goal setting, in any area of your life, practice “long-time perspective.” Successful people have a clear future orientation. The clearer you are and focus about your future intentions, the greater influence that clarity will have on what you do today.

I like how Brian Tracy puts this into perspective: “The time is going to pass anyway. The only question is how you use it and where you are going to end up at the end of the weeks and months that pass. And where you end up is largely a matter of the amount of consideration you give to the likely consequences of your actions in the short term.”

This long-time perspective enables you to see yourself and your life with greater clarity. It reveals what you actually need to stop doing, if you truly want to reach your destination.

7 STEPS TO ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS

Setting goals like anything else is a skill and a habit that can be learned.

Decide exactly what you want. It will be very sad for you to do something that need not be done at all.

Put everything on paper. Always think on paper. It has been proven that unwritten goals lead to confusion, vagueness, and to numerous mistakes.

Develop a time frame to complete the task. Set a deadline. A goal without a deadline lacks a sense of urgency. It also helps prevent procrastination on your part.

List all the actions that you are going to do to achieve your goal

Create a plan. Remember, your goal becomes your project. Therefore, organize your list of activities by priority and sequence.

Take massive and consistent action on your plan. Doing and taking action is everything.

Act on your goal by taking action on it on a daily basis.

Think about your goals and review them on a daily basis

Whilst climate change talks are heating up in Durban for COP17, you’ve to remember that your personal success hinges on you and no one else. There are no debates about that. The onus is upon you.

Cultivate the remain principles in your information marketing business and personal life and you’ll go beyond your imagination.

APPROACH YOUR BUSINESS AND YOUR PERSONAL LIFE STRATEGICALLY

A key area in your strategic thinking that you need to look at is to know why you are doing what you are doing. What kind of a difference do you want to make in the lives of your customers.

Every successful business is built around a central purpose or mission – and the very best mission is always to help people to improve their lives in some way.

Identify your area of excellence. What is to your advantage? What will you be doing better than your competition that customer will be willing to pay you for? Your product or service must have an area of uniqueness than anything offered by the competition.

Write down several reasons why someone should buy your product? Is there any unique area that will improve your customer that cannot be found anywhere else?

HONESTY SHOULD BE YOUR KEY TO LIFE

Perhaps you have seen people who have advanced in life through dishonesty. Have you watched them crack down, with everything they have? They have never enjoyed peaceful life, afraid of being caught Tax Agencies and be killed by those they have robbed and cheated.

You must always be impeccably honest with yourself and others. This means being honest in everything you do.

All successful businesses are based on trust. You must always be true to yourself and everything that you do. Do everything as if everyone is watching you.

SET PRIORITIES ON ACTIVITIES

Put your goals and your daily activities on paper and set your priorities.

The more thought you put in planning and setting priorities before you begin, the more important things you will do and the faster you will get them done once you begin your work. Always focus on one thing at a time. Keep the main thing the main thing.

Determine your highest priority. In your list of what you can do, you need to ask yourself some few questions:

1) What are my highest value activities?

2) Why am I getting paid on what I’m doing?

3) What can I, if done very well can make a difference?

4) What is the most valuable use of my time?

Commit yourself to work single-handed to the task at hand. Work when you are working!

PLAN THOROUGHLY

Planning is the key requirement in any business and personal success. The better, more thoroughly, and more detailed that you plan your activities in advance, the faster and easier it will be for you to carry out your plans and get the results you desire once you start to work.

Plan thoroughly and know exactly who your target customer is, your product, competition and a good marketing strategy. Your ability to set goals, make plans, and take action on them determines the course of your life.

One thing you should know is that every minute spent in planning saves as many as ten minutes in execution. It takes only about 10-12 minutes for you to plan out your day, but this small investment of time will save you up to two hours in wasted time and diffused effort throughout the day.

You should always be reminded about the Six-P formula. “Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance.”

Always get organized before you get started. Make the list. The more time you take to make written lists of everything you have to do, in advance, the more effective and efficient you will be.

One of the most important rules of personal effectiveness is the 10/90 Rule. This rule says that the first 10 percent of time that you spend planning and organizing your work before you begin will save you as much as 90 percent of the time in getting the job done once you get started.

Make a list of everything you have to do. Think on paper!

DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO ENSURE BUSINESS SUCCESS

Scientific evidence has shown us that you can succeed in business by fulfilling certain traits for success.

Your product or service should be well suited to the wants and needs of the current market. Market where there are hordes of hungry fish.

Develop a complete business plan before you start operations. Take the time to think things through before investing any cent from your part.

Do market analysis before starting your advertising and sales promotion activities.

Implement tight financial controls, good budgeting practices, and accurate bookkeeping and accounting and you practice frugality in every business activity. Cash is to the life of the business as is oxygen to the brain. Therefore, guard your cash carefully.

The key people in your business should have a high degree of competence, capability, and integrity. Also there should be good internal efficiency, good time management, and clear job descriptions.

There needs to be a strong momentum in the sales department and a total focus on marketing the product or service.

I’m writing this post looking across the Albert Luthuli International Conference Center where COP17 the major climate change conference is being held. It’s a follow up on COP16 held in Cancun, Mexico. Can there be any success in these debates? Time will tell.

As you immerse yourself in information marketing business you’ll have to develop some success habits.

DO WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO

The primary motivation for becoming an entrepreneur is not money but freedom. When entering a business you have to be passionate about what you are doing. Even when you are faced with obstacles, because you love what you do you’ll continues to persevere.

When you are doing what you love to do you flow.

When starting a business you must be prepared to work hard, at least 60 hours a week, six or seven days a week, and often taking your toll long into the night. Don’t be fooled by all the hype that will tell you you’ll be an instant millionaire without putting any effort. That is a lie!

Develop these two characters:

Courage – so as to take risks with your time and money

Persistence – so that you can endure month after month, and year after year until you achieve your wealth.

COMMIT TO EXCELLENCE

It is very important to realize that there must be a high level of compatibility between the person you are and the type of business you are thinking of starting.

That is why you have to commit to excellence, so as to be the best in what you do. Run a business that matches with your talents, abilities, experience, knowledge, your interests and your background.

Learn every detail of your business and become an expert in your chosen field. Read every magazine and attend any seminars that relate to your business.

DEDICATE YOURSELF TO LIFELONG LEARNING

Be growth orientated. What this means is that you must commit yourself to lifelong learning. There are three parts of continuous learning process. If you practice these activities daily, weekly, and monthly, you will increase your productivity, performance, and output by 1/10th of 1 percent per day, compounded.

Read Every Day

The concept of rising early is beneficial in many respects. If you rise early and read for 30-60 minutes in your field you will be advancing yourself and eventually become one of the highest paid and most successful person in your field.

When reading, underline and take notes. Think of what you have read and how you can apply it in your daily activities and your business.

If you read 30 – 60 minutes each day, you should complete about one book per week. Te average person reads less than one book per year. If you read one book per week, you should finish at least 50 books each year.

What is interesting is that when you want to earn a Ph.D from any major university you are required to read and synthesise into a dissertation about 40 to 50 books. So if you are reading one book per week and 50 books per year, you would be getting the equivalent of a practical Ph.D in your field each year. This translates to 500 books in ten years!

Learn from the Experts

Attend every seminar and take every course that is offered in your field. Do not ever make the mistake of waiting for courses and seminars to come to you or waiting for your company to organize and pay for additional training. You are completely responsible for your life.

You should attend at least four seminar programs per year in your field.

Listen to audio programs

Listen to audio programs in your car and as you walk or exercise. Evidence show that the average person spends 500 to 1, 000 hours each year in his or her car. This is the equivalent of three to six months of 40-hour weeks, or the equivalent of one or two university semesters.

Follow these principles and see your information marketing business and your personal life flourish.
