Living By Faith and the Degrees of Faith by Zama Zincume

Perhaps you are saying and asking yourself , how can I reach that state where the Word of God manifests itself within my heart and I exercise what it says in my daily life?why am I not like Smith Wigglesorth, Isaac Tlapi, khathide or Sihlobosenkosi Ngidi? One should understand that there are degrees and /or measurements of faith.

In the Word of we find that it teaches that every man is given the measure of faith, when he is born again (Romans 12: 3)

This indicates to us that we need to grow and develop our faith by studying the Word of God. There are Christians who have been born again for more than ten years yet they remain where they were before. There is no growth in them, they are being tossed to and from by the winds of circumstances of life.

Faith grows and develops the same way we develop our muscles- physical bodies as we exercise and eat the right food. The food the faith thrives on is the Word of God ( 1. Peter 2.2) therefore exercise your faith by feeding on the Word of God. Remember, as you use your legs about so you have to use your faith daily as you develop it. The bible gives several measurements of faith.

 Weak faith

When a person has weak faith we need not to have to look down on him. God is no respecter of persons. Nonetheless, do not let your faith be weak (Romans 4.19)

 Little faith

Matthew 8: 23-26

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him saying “Lord save us! We are going to drown!”  He replied “you of little faith, why are you so afraid?”  He then got up and rebuked the winds and the waves and it was completely calm.

We observe here that the disciples had faith, they were out there. Sometimes we laugh and ridicule some one because he does not exercise faith, but if we were in the same situation we will be in trouble ourselves. If you have little faith, read believe and act on the Word of God daily. Faith grows with proper food and exercise.

 Strong faith

Strong faith stands like a mountain, it is powerful. You need to desire that kind of faith, faith that is not shaken by anything yet it moves forward with power force and changes circumstances.

 Romans 4 20- 21

Yet he (Abraham ) did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God , being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he  had promised.

Your faith should be based on the promises of God. – His Word. It is the only way to achieve strong faith.

 Great faith

We hear Jesus telling us that there was someone who had great faith. Is it not better to have great faith than little faith?

Matthew 8 5-10

When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help “Lord he said”

“My servant lies at home paralysed and in terrible suffering” Jesus said to him “  I will go and heal him. The centurion replied “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But Just say a word, and my servant will be healed.. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one “Go” and he goes, and that one Come and he comes. I say to my servant do this and he does it”

When Jesus heard this He was astonished and he said to those following him “I tell our the truth I have not found anyone in Israel with such a great faith.

Are there such people in he Body of Christ, or are we finding people who are boasting with just one miracle they have encountered.

This great faith had to do with the information age w live in today the space age of Mars exploration and the Mir space station wonders. You just need to speak it and it shall be preformed. Jesus called that great faith, faith that is not inhibited by circumstances. Its released and its gone. Praise God!

Faith can change the world – the whole universe.
