The Power of the Language of Faith by Zama Zincume
Faith can become to you a kind of sixth sense besides your five physical senses.
However, this you can only achieve if you confess the word of God. What you are saying is what is ruling in your life. By what you say one can know who you really are. In Romans 10-8 the word says “but what does it say? The word is near you, it is your mouth and in your heart” that is the word of faith we are proclaiming.
Words are so important because the entire universe was formed through them. God never does anything until he first says it. You and I are His image. Therefore whatever you desire and ask you have to say it. John Kehoe, in one of his seminars once said “whenever I want the great mystery (the Almighty God) to bring something into life. I create that image in my mind. I spend quite time each day and claim it as mine already. I do not wonder if it will happen, I do not hope or plead. I do not get in my knees and beg.
I simply create the images in my hope and live the experience of having it. I live it with feeling and intensity for several moments at a time.
When God created the universe He spoke the Word. In the same way that God by His words, spoke the universe into existence, we have the same ability to speak those things which be not as though they were. There is power in your words your confessions.
Faith believes that God will do what He says in His Word and you have to act like it and talking like it is true. Realization can only follow confessions- what you say. The Word becomes real as we confess its reality. You may be wondering how one can say the things that are not as though they were. Remember that faith is a process. It has been established in this book that faith is based solely on God’s Word, especially when it comes to us as a rhema.
Faiths is a process.
Although faith begins with hearing the word, it does not end there. The bible clearly teaches us that faith is a process. In order for you speak the language of faith you need to understand this process.
Colin Dye one of the spirit filled children of God once remarked “one way of looking at this is to think of faith as a chain with number of interlocking and inter- relating links. As one link in the chain connects with another, so the process of faith unfolds. This process of faith is completed when we have an entire, unbroken chain of responses to the Word operating deep in our hearts… if any one of these links actually breaks then the whole chain of faith will collapse and the faith process itself will be aborted
The life of faith is like running a marathon, not a hundred meter sprint and we must keep on running until we cross the finish.
Grasping the language of faith will require you to follow the entire process of faith that consists of ten steps or links.
Hearing the Word
Receiving the Word
Desiring the Word
Believing the Word
Asking by the Word
Confessing the Word
Seeing the Word
Acting on the Word
Rejoicing in the Word
Persevering in the Word
In faith life, the life that is based not on circumstances or conditions, but on the eternal Word of God. You have to understand how these steps and linkage work.
Hearing the word
You have to hear the word of God with understanding. Read the Bible and hear what it says. Hearing does not just know some few verses that you like, but doing that which the Word of God says you should be doing. It has been stated that in the previous chapters that there are the logos and the rhema.
Let us look at the following scriptures in order for us to be able to understand the different meaning of the word.
Matthew 7. 24-25
Therefore everyone who hears these words (logos) of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who builds his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beats against the house, yet it did not fall, because it has its foundation on the rock
But beyond studying logos, you need to tune your spirit man to hear and understand that specific voice of the Holy spirit- the rhema that God wants to reveal. He talks to you everyday and you need to listen to that small voice within you and your life will not be the same again.
No strange voices will come, however that which you always hear within you, giving you that inner peace and harmony in the midst of tension and turmoil.
Proverb 20 27
The spirit of man is the Lord’s lamp; it searches out his inmost being. Hearing the spiritual truths requires a renewed mind. What is renewed mind? There are seven things that you need to know about renewing of your mind.
- the new birth generates your spirit but not your body or your mind
- it is more than just learning , it is changing self.
- its putting away old thoughts and putting on the thoughts of God. That can only be done when you daily meditate on the Word of God
In fact it is often when you are meditaing the word that the logo become the rhema to you. As you keep on meditating upon the Word of God, the more you hear yourself being immersed in those words and instructions, faith will start to rise in your heart.
Romans 10 .17
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ.
- Renewing our minds requires us to change the words we speak.
- The degree our mind is renewed will be the degree we walk in our destiny.
Everything exists as a possibility, more specifically when you walk and live by faith and hearing His Word. All that is required is for you to feed in the necessary energy until it becomes yours. In order to understand the importance of renewing your mind, note the following statement.
Your mind creates your reality. You can choose to accept this or not
You can be conscious of it and get you mind working for you or you can ignore it and allow it to work in ways that will hinder and hold you back. But your mind will always and forever be creating your reality.
Receiving the word.
Many people think that walking by faith is walking by nothing. I know of wonderful Christians who are living in this arena. They forget that faith is the substance, tangibility of things hoped for and it is the evidence of things not seen. Faith receive in the realm of the spirit even before there is any physical manifestation in the natural realm
Faith is not inhibited by time, it travels through time into the future, and thus it feels the experience of a yet future event. It feels and accepts that the event in the NOW. Thus faith knows that it is there because it has a substance of the experience.
Faith perceives as reality what is not revealed to our physical senses. It is a though there is an umbilical cord connecting our spirit to the prayer request and as you persist in the process of faith you are feeding the answer to your request.
Desiring the Word
In Hebrews 11.1 we read that “ now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Thus faith requires desire. Knowing what one wants is not enough. Wishing or hoping is of little faith. It is desire that gives you the needed momentum and inspiration. It is that certainty , the being sure of what you want that makes the difference. Fuel your desire daily and watch the small spark of hope that now exists within you , ignite into blazing fire of determination.
Mark 11 .24
Therefore I tell you , whatever you ask for desire in prayer ,believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Nothing else is more crucial to your faith life and success. A strong burning desire to obtain and possess the goal you are pursuing is the starting point of all achievement. Burning desire with faith force or power when properly ignited takes on a life and power of its own and empowers you in hundreds of different ways. The spirit in you connects with God the spirit and nothing stops that combined power. The power that created the very universe that you live in.
Strong desire acts a magnet attracting the people, circumstances and situations needed to achieve your request that you are praying for.
Believing the word
The Greek word translated faith in the New Testament is pistis. It is used more than 248 times and is also translated assurance, fidelity and belief. In believing we are making a decision to commit ourselves to the Word of God. This is important for there is no area of your life in which you dot have a set of believes soullically or spiritually.
What is contained in your spirit man and experiences that you encounter in your life are directly connected to one another. What you believe is what you are to receive. This is an eternal principle. Whatever you believe positively or negatively it shall come to pass.
Asking by the word.
In living by faith you have to ask whatever you want or desire by he Word of God. That which has been promised in the Word is yours. What is required of you is just asking. When you live by the word of God there is a Gold mine within you from which can extract everything you need to live life gloriously., joyously and abundantly. What ever you want ask!
Confessing the word
If you are full of faith in Jesus in your heart, then your faith will find its expression in open confession. Faith needs to be released. You will never receive anything from God beyond the words you speak. When you have claimed what you have asked for, then you must confess that you believe you have it.
You may not realize it, but what you say is what you get. Proverb 18.27 says the tongue has power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit. It is then important to realize that the state of your tongue is a very sure guide to your spiritual condition! Your tongue , that is what you confess, determines your destiny.
Your faith will rise no higher than your confession of God’s Word.
Seeing the word.
Faith requires us to see the realm of the spirit whatever God has promised in His word for us. God created the universe, that which is known and that which is still to be discovered by the scientist, it has already been there in the beginning. All that is , was created by the Word .
In other words , the universe was made through the Son and everything that conforms to Him will be sustained and receive that which is if the universe. The Son is the word and the word was with God. He was with God in the beginning. Therefore seeing the word is to see His Son the radiance of God’s glory. As the heir of all creations abiding in Him and seeing the word will open doors And opportunities that you have never imagined. When you can see it , your faith will start to soar like never before.
Everyone has an imagination . imagination is to see yourself in a situation that has not yet happened , picturing yourself having or doing the thing you want and successfully achieving the results you desire. It is not what faith is, as described in Hebrews 11.1 put the word in your spirit man and nourish it regularly and it will produce results in your life.
Acting on the word.
True faith is never passive, it is always active. Faith is acting on the word. No matter how much you talk about how you believe the bible is the word of God. But if you don’t act on what the Bible says, then the promises of the Word of God and all that is declared therein will never do you any personal good in daily existence.
Great victory in life can not be achieved without action. There is no point in talking the word, dreaming and hoping if it is not followed by action. Action is what makes things happen. Action is what brings something out of nothing. In faith life action is what really counts. Hence the process of faith involves the actual acting out on the word you heard.
Action is what unites every great success. Knowledge of the word of God is only potential power until it comes to someone who knows how to get himself to take effective action. In fact, the literal definition of the word power is the ability to act. Here are some few examples from the word of God. Of faith in action
Luke 5 4-7
Joshua 6 1-20
11 Kings 5 1-14
John 9 1-6 7a
Luke 5 17-25
Be reminded of this , that faith is not based on works but works are the outcome.
Rejoicing in the word
You need to rejoice in the meditation and in confessing the word of God. Inner peace, harmony and joy should be the out come of faith as you live by the word.
Rejoice in the Lord always!
Persevering in the word.
From the time you are being sure of what you do not see, to the time that you receive the substance there is a time lapse. The great apostle of faith Smith Wiggleworth once said Great triumph comes out of great tests
In every man and woman’s life comes a time of ultimate challenge—- a time when every resource we have is tested. A time when life seems unfair, A time when our faith our value, our patients our compassion our ability to persist are pushed to limits and beyond. This is the time not quit on what the word of God says.
All the above aspects link with each other , use them and grow in your faith life.
